About the Children's Research Center

The Childrenís Research Center (CRC) was created in 1993 as a part of the Arkansas Kids Count Program.  The CRC is a major source of information on the well-being of Arkansasí children and their families.  Indicators in the CRCís database include demographics for each county, the safety and security of children, health, education, and economics.

The CRC collects, coordinates, and disseminates information from the Census State Data Center and state government sources, including:

Department of Human Services
Department of Education
Department of Health
Arkansas Crime Information Center
Department of Corrections
Department of Finance and Administration
Highway and Transportation Department
Employment Security Department

Additionally, the CRC engages in and facilitates research on issues affecting children and families, performs contract database management work for various clients, and publishes reports. The information and services available from the CRC are extremely useful for research, grant applications, economic and community development, planning, and policy development.
